Information: Lauren was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. She moved to Santa Cruz to attend UCSC in 1978. She received her B.A. in American Studies with a focus on oral history, genealogy and archival research. She also completed a Teaching Certificate in Education at UCSC. Lauren’s hobbies include: genealogy research, music, reading science fiction and going on short road trips along the California coast collecting sand and sea glass. Lauren has worked with the College Eight staff for the last 15 years initially in Residential Life and currently as an Academic Preceptor advising undergraduate students. She also lived on campus both as a re-entry student and as a Residential Preceptor while raising her son. Because of her unique experience she has an understanding of both academic and non-academic issues facing students. Lauren leads the College Eight advising team with her commitment to the holistic development of College Eight students.
